Perth French Theatre brings together French speakers and learners of French around one shared language: theatre.
Some come to perform, some to train, some to discover what they are capable of on stage. What matters is the work: voice, body, presence, listening, and what happens when a group creates together.
We work with ambition, giving people room to learn, take risks and go further.

The work starts before the stage
Perth French Theatre training explores voice, body, breath, presence, improvisation and ensemble work.
French speakers and learners of French train together, using theatre as a way to take risks, listen differently and become more confident in French.
You can train with PFT without committing to a production.

Helia offers one-to-one acting coaching for performers preparing for drama school auditions, professional castings and self-tapes, as well as for anyone simply curious to experience the work of an actor.
Work with Helia
Helia Sulak is an actor and acting coach trained at WAAPA and NIDA, with a strong interest in the relationship between text, body, intention and presence.
Her approach is practical, attentive and actor-focused. Rather than imposing a single way of performing a scene, she works with each person to understand the text, make clear choices and find something truthful and personal in the work.
Sessions are adapted to the individual, whether you are preparing for an important audition, refining an existing piece or stepping into acting for the very first time.
Auditions & Self-Tapes
Preparing for WAAPA, NIDA or another drama school, or auditioning for film, television, advertising or theatre?
Bring your monologue, scene or audition material and work through it with Helia.
Depending on what you need, sessions can explore character, intention, relationships, movement, voice, connection to the text and presence in front of the camera.
There is also time to rehearse, adjust and try different approaches before recording.
Self-tapes can be filmed during the session, and the video provided to you afterwards.
Just Curious?
You don’t need an audition to work with an acting coach.
Perhaps you have always wondered what actors actually do with a scene. Perhaps you would like to try performing a monologue, explore a character or simply experience what it feels like to work in front of a camera.
You can book a session simply for the experience.
Helia will choose a text for you, you’ll work on it with her, rehearse it and, if you want to, finish by filming your own scene.
No audition. No pressure. Just the chance to act.

When a play only needs voices
Classic and contemporary plays, read in their original language.
No staging, no production. Just a text, a few voices, and the pleasure of hearing theatre come alive.
Texts are available to follow along, making the readings accessible to learners as well as fluent speakers.
