Does my child need to be fluent in French to attend?

No. The French Holiday Program is designed for children aged 5–12 who already understand everyday French, even if speaking it does not yet come easily.

Children should be able to follow simple instructions, stories, games and group conversations in French.

My child understands French but doesn’t speak it much. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Many children understand much more French than they actively speak.

Some answer in English sometimes, need time to find their words or feel hesitant at first. Through play, stories, theatre and group activities, French gradually becomes something they use more naturally.

This is a common profile in our program.

Is the program suitable for complete beginners?

No. The program takes place entirely in French and we do not translate activities into English.

Children need enough familiarity with French to understand what is happening and participate without frustration.

Is this a French class or a theatre workshop?

Neither, exactly.

French is not taught as a school subject, and theatre is not approached as formal acting training.

Children use French through movement, stories, games, improvisation, creative work and collaboration.

No French lesson. Plenty of French.

Is this childcare?

No.

The French Holiday Program is a structured artistic and educational experience led by French-speaking educators. Each day is intentionally designed around language, movement, imagination, theatre and creative exploration.

What ages can attend?

The regular French Holiday Program is for children aged 5–12.

Activities have different entry points so younger and older children can participate at their own level. Educators adapt instructions, language and creative challenges to the group.

What are the program hours?

The standard program runs from 9am to 3pm.

Optional before & after care extends the day from 8:30am to 4pm.

Where does the program take place?

Programs take place in North Perth, in spaces suitable for theatre, movement and group activities.

The exact venue is confirmed for each program.

How does drop-off and pick-up work?

A French-speaking educator welcomes children each morning.

At the end of the day, children are released directly to a parent or authorised adult. If somebody different will be collecting your child, please let us know in advance.

Can I stay with my child when they arrive?

We generally encourage a quick and confident goodbye. This helps children settle into the group and begin their day.

Our team is used to supporting children who may feel shy or unsure at first. If your child has particular needs, please contact us before the program.

What should my child bring?

Please bring:

• lunch

• a substantial snack

• a water bottle

Children move a lot during the day and often get hungry!

What should my child wear?

Comfortable, inexpensive clothes suitable for movement, making and getting a little messy.

For the Friday presentation, families may occasionally be asked to bring a particular item of clothing or costume.

Can my child attend for only one day?

No. The regular French Holiday Program is designed as a full week.

Stories, group work and creative projects develop over several days, so enrolment is for the complete program.

Are places limited?

Yes. Groups are intentionally kept small.

Once a program is full, a waitlist may be opened and families will be contacted if a place becomes available.

What does a typical day look like?

Each day combines active and quieter moments.

Children begin together with voice, movement and group games before exploring the theme through stories, improvisation, creative challenges, making and small-group work.

There are also breaks to eat, play, reset and simply spend time together.

The rhythm is structured, but never rigid.

Is there any screen time?

No.

The French Holiday Program is completely screen-free. Children spend their time moving, imagining, making, talking and interacting with one another.

Do the themes change?

Yes.

Each French Holiday Program explores a new creative world. Themes may grow from stories, adventures, cultural elements, legends or artistic ideas.

Returning children therefore experience something different each time.

Do children perform?

There is no formal performance at the end of each day.

At the end of the week, families are invited to a short presentation where children share some of what they have created and explored together.

It is not about producing a polished show. It is a simple way to celebrate the week and share their journey in French.

Who supervises the children?

Activities are led by experienced French-speaking educators with backgrounds in theatre, storytelling, movement or education.

Do staff hold Working With Children Checks?

Yes. Team members hold valid Working With Children Checks as required in Western Australia.

How do you manage allergies, medication or medical needs?

Parents provide medical and allergy information during enrolment.

If your child requires medication or has particular medical needs, please contact us before the program so that an appropriate plan can be organised.

The French Holiday Program operates as a nut-aware environment.

What if my child is shy, anxious or upset?

That is not unusual, particularly when entering a new group or spending a full day in French.

Children are supported gently through familiar rituals, movement, games and group activities. No child is forced to speak.

If a child becomes upset, an educator stays with them, helps them settle and gives them space if needed. If they are unable to settle or need additional reassurance, we contact their parent or guardian.

How do you approach behaviour?

We use simple expectations around respect, kindness, safety and collaboration.

If difficulties arise, educators redirect the child, help them communicate what they need and work to protect the wellbeing of the whole group.

Repeated or unsafe behaviour will be discussed with parents.

What happens in an emergency?

The team follows the emergency and evacuation procedures of each venue.

Children are supervised and guided calmly, and parents are contacted if necessary.

Do you take photos during the week?

Yes.

Photos are taken so families can see some of what their children experienced during the program. At the end of the week, enrolled families receive access to a private photo folder.

Will my child’s photo be used publicly?

Only with your permission.

Images are not used on the website, social media or promotional materials unless parents have explicitly agreed to public media use.

Children are never tagged or identified by name in public posts.

Will I receive updates during the day?

We do not send live updates during the program because the team is focused on the children and the flow of the day.

If anything happens that requires your attention, we contact you directly.

How can I contact the team during the program?

Contact details for the program are provided to enrolled families.

For urgent matters during the day, SMS is generally the quickest way to reach the team.

Do you share personal information?

No.

Personal information is used only for administrative, communication and safety purposes related to the French Holiday Program.

How do I register?

Registration is available from the Dates & Register page.

New families complete the full registration form.
Returning families can use our Quick Registration form to confirm that their existing information is still current and tell us about any changes.

Is there an annual membership?

Yes. An annual $55 family membership applies in addition to the program fee and covers the whole family for the calendar year.

If your family has already paid it for the current year, you do not pay it again.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 14 days or more before the program begins are eligible for a refund.

Cancellations made less than 14 days before the program begins, and missed days during the program, are non-refundable.
